PARISH TOUR #4 AT ELBERON
Please come, Sunday, May 17th and find out what’s in store for fun this year! For those who have gone on the tour in the past – there’s a new twist. For those who haven’t gone before, come expecting to meet new friends and see places where you may never have been. We will meet at the church at 3 P.M. Following the tour a light meal will be served at the church (approximately 5:30). All are invited! If you can’t make the tour come for supper! If you can’t stay for supper come for the tour!

MISSION CORNER
Human Relations Special Offering
Since we had not received the 2009 Human Relations Sunday envelopes in time to put in the January newsletter, there were several that didn’t know about it. Due to this fact, next Sunday, May 10 another opportunity will be given for this special offering.

BENTON CO. next week bring mixes (cake, muffin, mac ‘n cheese, etc.) or giver’s choice. Collection boxes are located at entryways.
TAMA CO. next week bring soaps, detergents, cleaners or your choice to the Elberon church. The Tama County Food Bank has made a special plea for food items (microwaveable, etc.) that children can prepare themselves since school is getting close to being out for the summer.
Please, when donating items for the Food Pantry, check the expiration dates, expired food items cannot be delivered. Thank you.


WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING:

The 2009 Lenten Offering of $458.16 ($114.54 for each church) collected at the Sunday evening Lenten services has been sent to UMCOR for the Material Resource Ministry, Advance #901440.
In 1992 , UMCOR began a program of “In Kind” resourcing to provide critically needed items to areas of the world that had been impacted by disaster. Today, emergency and disaster relief supplies are collected, verified and distributed from the UMCOR Depot in Louisiana to victims in the United States and around the world. This Advance is used to purchase emergency response supplies as needed.

The Vinton Lutheran Home Communities summer Junior Volunteer Program will allow you to share your talents with those who benefit most…our residents. There will be games, music, reading/writing, gardening, day trips, crafts, helping with special events & more! For ages 8-18.
