COMING UP:

Reverend Crystal Oberheu has been appointed to serve Peace Parish. She was raised in Waterloo, where her parents still live. Pastor Crystal, as she likes to be called, loves small rural communities and is excited to serve us and meet everyone. She will begin her appointment on August 1st.

OTHER THINGS:


College students who are members of Salem UMC may apply for the Nelda Schlue Scholarship.  Nelda was a lifelong member of Salem and as a teacher, was very interested in the youth of the church. In order to be eligible, an applicant must have successfully completed at least one year of their program.  This includes community college and graduate programs. 

Applications are available at the church office or from Karen Schlue.  Karen's address is 1230 English Lane NE; Apt. 208; Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.  Phone: 319-409-5262. 

The application needs to be completed and returned by September 1. The award will be made in December.

American Cancer Society Fundraiser Car/Motorcycle Cruise sponsored by Keystone Care Center on Saturday, June 25th at 9 AM at the Keystone Care Center. Cost is $20 per car or motorcycle.

Thanks to Dorothy Blackburn of Norway United Methodist Church for representing the Peace Parish as Lay Delegate to the Iowa UMC Annual Conference for the past three years.  Dorothy was recovering from illness on her first year but she persisted and attended all sessions.  This is Dorothy's third and last year as Lay Delegate.  We appreciate you, Dorothy.  May God continue to bless you as you have blessed us.
